Clean Development Mechanism-concept, process and practice

Background:   The entire world is exposed to environmental threats like climate change and carbon emissions. Sustainable finance and development have gained significance today in addressing some of these issues. Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), besides helping countries comply with their emission reduction commitments, also assist developing countries in achieving sustainable development. CDM allows for drastic reduction of costs for the industrialized countries, which achieving the same amount of emission reductions as without the CDM. It arose out of the negotiations of the Kyoto Protocol in 1997. Banks, financial institutions and corporates should be aware of the concept of CDM for incorporating the relevant features of CDM and its implications into their processes of financing and project appraisal.

Objectives:  The objective of this one day seminar is to create awareness among the participants of the concept, processes and practice of CDM, with the help of experts with hands-on experience.

Target audience: Target audience is senior managers from banks, financial institutions engaged in project finance, corporate managers responsible for project appraisal and NGOs engaged in environment related projects
